Wing Chun History
Almost all extant lineages of Wing Chun claim descendance from the members of the
mid-19th century cohort of the Red Boat Opera Company. Wing Chun has historically
been passed from teacher to student verbally rather than through documentation,
making it difficult to confirm or clarify the differing accounts of Wing Chun's
creation before the Red Boat Opera Company.
